The peculiarities of the interaction of generations of university educational communities in the space of university science are studied. The purpose of the article is to identify the nature of the interaction between them and its impact on the development of the university scientific space. The substantial and structural- functional features of these communities as subjects of university science are considered. Quantitative characteristics of generational communities of scientific, pedagogical, administrative and managerial workers and students are given. Based on the materials of semi-structured interviews, the contradictions between the generations of educational communities in the university scientific space and the possibility of optimizing relations between them are determined. The conclusion is made about the special importance of scientific schools for the development of the university scientific space and generational educational communities. The specific results of the study revealed following factors influencing the state of university science: the resource potential of university generations, the established style of their interaction and interaction of university structures (managerial or academic), the organizational culture of universities, the availability of generational, group and community communication channels, tools for collective cohesion (corporate culture, climate of trust).
