The a rticle h ighlights t he role a nd contribution o f N .A. Aitov to t he formation a nd development of the theory and practice of social planning. In addition to the scientist’s renowned works, the study incorporates recently digitized materials that hold the status of methodological and procedural developments, projects, and draft plans for the social development of enterprises and specific territories, completed by him and the research team under his supervision. Specific examples demonstrate that N.A. Aitov made a significant contribution to both the theory and practical implementation of social development planning. Particular attention is given to the consistent and comprehensive nature of his scientific inquiries, which encompass large-scale sociological studies, the development of methodologies and techniques for social planning of enterprise, city, and regional development, as well as the formulation and substantiation of key provisions and scientific principles that collectively laid the foundation for the sociological theory of regions and a comprehensive evaluation of their social development.
