Abstract

The article discusses the development of modern rural communities in Russia in the context of social mobility. Based on an overview of the main points of the monograph, which was prepared based on the results of a study of rural residents in the Saratov region, the article examines the specific features of various socio-demographic groups, their perceptions of well-being, value-motivational structures, and social activity. The analysis focuses on five main structural groups of the rural community: employees, entrepreneurs (and farmers), self-employed, unemployed (including housewives), and retirees. The study highlights the challenges of mobility and immobility among these groups, with a particular focus on young people under the age of 35. The analysis also raises questions about the future development of rural areas, taking into account changes in community structures.
