Abstract
N.G. Chernyshevsky’s sociological discourse was largely subordinated to the tasks of designing and implementing social change. Fallacy ia demonstrated of the stereotype of perceiving him as a revolutionarysubordinating artistic creativity to the tasks of the struggle against autocracy. N. G. Chernyshevsky acted, on the one hand, as educator, and on the other, as sociologist-journalist of socio-practical orientation. His impact on contemporaries wore philosophical character.
