The idea for this interview with Elena Rozhdestvenskaya emerged from our collaborative work on academic articles. Although this is by no means the first interview with this distinguished scholar, at this particular stage of the continuous growth of her extensive research agenda, I wanted to ask questions that would help orient, and above all inspire, researchers working with qualitative methods. Our discussion of the biographical method, in which scientific rigor and painstaking documentation procedures are often overlooked, led us to an in-depth and candid conversation about the profound entanglement of human lives with broader social processes and about the meanings of human action, which are the central concern of qualitative methods in sociology. In the interview, Elena Rozhdestvenskaya reflects on her biography, contemporary debates in sociological methodology, different aspects and the future of the biographical method, and the use of artificial intelligence.
