Anticipating 100th anniversary of 1917 revolution in Russia, editors of “Sociological Studies’ journal have requested scholars regularly publishing in the journal on relevant issues to answer some questions related to this revolution in a mode of ‘Round Table’ discussion. The request resulted in a embracing picture of ideas and conceptions originating in the impulses produced by reflecting on 1917 events and their comtemporary readings. They cover problematics ranging from Russian revolutions historiography to hotly debated historical and current questions of history, contemporary problematics of Russia and the world resonating with the 1917 events. Authors from four countries debate significance of 1917 revolution and its impact on modern history, ensuing developments in Russia and other countries. Typically, the views, as expressed, project 1917 lessons on the events in Russia during the recent decades of its history, as well as reflect scholars’ desire to draw lessons from the past events, to apply them to practices of realizing goals of peoples’ masses, who “made” 1917 revolution.
