Abstract

The paper is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the work of the “New Phenomena in Public Consciousness and Social Practice” Scientific Council, created on March 30, 2010 by the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the introduction of a correspondingly named section in the Russian journal Sotsiologicheskie issledovaniya [Sociological Studies]. The main challenges faced by Russian sociologists over the years and attempts to answer them through the work of the Scientific Council as well as in a wider context are discussed. The results of a comparative analysis of the topics of all papers of the journal and those papers published under the “New Phenomena ...” heading are presented. Special attention is paid to the problems of interdisciplinarity in social research, namely: the ways and means of its development, as well as the types of “integrative” interdisciplinarity (according to Pierre Livet) and their representation in the papers under the heading “New Phenomena in Public Consciousness and Social Practice”
