В статье рассмотрены два основных подхода к использованию в социологической теории и методологии моделей, методов и результатов, полученных в междисциплинарной традиции когнитивной науки. Обосновывается тезис о преимуществах одного из подходов к интеграции, который обозначается как «когнитивная социальная наука (и нейронаука)», а также демонстрируются ограничения второго подхода, обычно именуемого «когнитивной социологией». Приводятся некоторые конкретные примеры преимуществ традиции когнитивной социальной науки, возникающие при систематическом использовании моделей и исследовательских результатов теории «двойного процесса» в исследованиях социального познания, в частности, применительно к социологии морали и к социологической методологии.
